According to thesportreview.com, Terry Gibson says that Diego Costa could return to Athletico madrid.

The Spain international has endured a mixed second campaign at the defending Premier League champions after a brilliant first season in England.

The 27-year-old has only scored nine goals in 21 Premier League games for the west London side so far this season after a slow start to the 2015/16 campaign.

Costa has been linked with a potential return to Atletico Madrid in the summer after Jackson Martinez left Atletico for Guangzhou Evergrande last week.

Former Chelsea man Gibson believes Costa could be lured back to Los Rojiblancos in the summer as a replacement for the Columbia international.

Terry Gibson was quoted saying:

“I was a little taken aback that they let him [Martinez] go, but they must have seen the price and thought we are actually going to make a profit on him,” Gibson told Sky Sports.

“And this is a player who was not ripping it up in La Liga and who Simeone had not really fallen in love with or trusted.

“Then obviously talk immediately turned to his replacement next season and Diego Costa.”

Gibson added: “It depends on Diego Costa too and if he is enjoying life at Chelsea.

“But there is always going to be a pull because of what he achieved at Atletico Madrid. And, of course, if Simeone is still the manager and they have the money available, it might even be something Chelsea listen to as well.

“But again, it is another club where we do not know who the manager is going to be next season.”
