According to squawka.com, Chelsea midfielder Willian has revealed that studying the technique of David Beckham and Ronaldinho is the secret behind his success from free-kicks this season.
The Brazilian has been in sensational form this campaign for the Blues, despite their troubles in the Premier League, but undoubtedly the most impressive part of his season has been the regularity in which he scores from a set-piece.
Two of Willian’s three goals in the league this season have come from free-kicks – the other a long ranged strike against Watford – and furthermore four of his five efforts in the Champions League have also been netted from dead ball situations.
It means that the 27-year-old has scored six free-kicks in the two competitions this campaign and the Blues playmaker has revealed which players have inspired his technique.
Willian was quoted by Uefa's website saying:
"There are some players I always watched – various players who I knew hit the ball well."
"Ronaldinho and David Beckham, they took free-kicks and took them very well, so there are some players I always try to follow and to learn important things from so that I am able to score goals."
