According to KickOff online magazine, Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler says Lehlohonolo Majoro deserves a lot of credit for his role in their victory against Mpumalanga Black Aces yesterday.

The Buccaneers won 3-1 courtesy of a Tendai Ndoro brace, but Tinkler says had it not been for the defensive work put in by ‘Major’, it could have been a different story.

Eric Tinkler was quoted saying:

“Tendai came in and got a brace, but we must not overlook the job Majoro put in before that,” he said.

“Yes, he might not have had a shot on target, but you must judge his overall performance and I think defensively he did a lot of work for us.

“He did a lot of chasing and we put a lot of pressure on them to try and win the ball, and I'm very proud of the work he put in. That helped Tendai because when he came in very fresh, he found himself with a lot of space and it was a job done by Majoro.”

Tinkler was obviously happy with the result, though he didn’t feel it was the best performance they have produced.

“It was a very good result. A good performance – I don’t think it is the best performance we will ever produce – but I thought we were a lot more clinical in the final third and the players responded extremely well.”

Pirates’ next match is against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday at Orlando Stadium.
