According to Soccer Laduma online, Steve Komphela Thinks Kaizer Chiefs Can Catch Mamelodi Sundowns.

Steve Komphela says that Kaizer Chiefs' title ambitions remain on track, with him stating that a ‘slight hiccup’ from Mamelodi Sundowns could derail them.

The Amakhosi made up some ground on the league leaders this weekend as they beat SuperSport United 2-1 and Masandawana drew 0-0 with Golden Arrows, moving to within eight points of Pitso Mosimane’s side.

Now, as they prepare to face Polokwane City this week, Komphela remains adamant that his team can still win the Absa Premiership title this season, starting with a win over Rise and Shine.

Steve Komphela was quoted on Kaizer chiefs website saying:

“We are looking forward to our fixture against Polokwane City. We are happy with the performance and satisfied that we have completed our mission in Cape Town with a win. We will look at their strengths and will make sure that we will be fully prepared.”

When asked about his side’s title chances after seeing Sundowns drop points, Komphela said, “Our title chase has never been put off. Anything can happen to log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. We have been there before, ask Stuart Baxter - at some point we were leading with twelve points and Sundowns overtook us to clinch the title.

“The power to stay on top requires a lot of mental strength. A slight hiccup can derail anybody’s efforts.”

Chiefs now have 10 games, and a possible thirty points, to try and keep up their fine form and defend the league title that they won last season.
