According to soccerlens.com, Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for PSG defender Thiago Silva in the January transfer window. The Blues had reportedly held talks with PSG over a move for Silva, but failed to reach an agreement before deadline day.
While the press in Italy are still convinced that the Blues are secretly in talks with the French champions over a possible move for the Brazilian defender in the summer, but there’s hardly any report in France to back up the claims.
The French press however believe that Chelsea are certainly showing an interest in PSG midfielder Blaise Mataudi, as the Blues are looking to fill the void left by Ramires.
According to L’Equipe, Matuidi, the €30-rated-midfielder, could be open to a Premier League move, although he remains a key player for PSG.
Ramires joined Chinese club Jiangsu Suning for £25m in January, and the midfield has been weakened following his departure.
Neither Matic nor Mikel have performed at their top levels this season, and they need to bolster their midfield in order to become title contenders yet again.
The 28-year-old is a regular French international and vastly experienced at high levels. He would bring the much needed defensive solidity and steel in the middle of the park for Chelsea.
Matuidi is contracted at Parc des Princes until 2018 and he is key to PSG’s plans for the future. Therefore, Chelsea need to present a lucrative offer to tempt him away from the French champions.
The Blues are also reportedly interested in signing Matuidi’s club team-mate Marco Verratti, who is also a long term target of La Liga champions Barcelona.
