According to Euro sports news, Real Madrid legend Paco Gento has responded to rumours about Cristiano Ronaldo's future, urging Real not to sell the Portugal international.
According to ongoing speculation, Ronaldo – who helped secure Real’s Clasicowin on Saturday - could be a target for a number of clubs during this summer’s transfer window, including former club, Manchester United.
Paco Gento was quoted saying:
"How are you going to sell a player who scores so many goals for you every day?
"No, man, no. Plus, Madrid have never been a selling club, Madrid above all have bought players.
" Madrid should not sell, they should buy. Cristiano knows the people here, and the club love him."
Speaking in defence of the star’s sometimes petulant behaviour towards team-mates, Gento said that Ronaldo was a perfectionist and sometimes found himself frustrated.
“Di Stefano was like that too,” he said, referencing the late Argentina and Real Madrid star.
“Cristiano’s gestures are explained as he always wants to be the best, and that is very important.”
Real Madrid take on Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
