Guus Hiddink: 'Chelsea players thinking of Euros'

According to sport mole online news, Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has suggested that his players may be saving their energy for this summer's European Championships with nothing to play for in the league.

The Blues were brushed aside by Manchester City courtesy of a Sergio Aguero hat-trick at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, a result that left them tenth in the Premier League table.

Chelsea are now mathematically unable to qualify for next season's Champions League and must overcome a 12-point deficit with just five games remaining in order to finish fifth.

Guus Hiddink was quoted saying:

"I cannot blame the players for having a lack of attitude," Hiddink told reporters after the game. "Some players might think that, but I cannot look into their minds, in their brains. They might be thinking of the Euros.

"When there is nothing at stake then with some people there is a little bit of a lack of the ultimate work."

Chelsea are next back in action on Saturday when they travel to Bournemouth.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the only ever-present outfielder in La Liga this season

According to squawka online news, The Real Madrid superstar has been an ever-present thus far, featuring for 2970 minutes (excluding stoppage time), alongside Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

After 33 matchdays of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo is the only outfielder in La Liga to have played in every minute of 2015/16.

Roberto Rosales of Malaga had kept pace with Ronaldo for 32 rounds of the campaign, but received his fifth booking of the season in last weekend’s draw with Granada, which has led to a one-match suspension.

Across Europe’s top five divisions, there are only two other outfielders who can match the Portuguese’s 100% record.

In the Premier League, Toby Alderweireld has completed an identical number of games to Ronaldo, whilst Dennis Appiah has endured 34 full matches in Ligue 1.

Ronaldo has experienced a rather memorable week, with the 6ft 1in attacker netting a hat-trick in midweek to secure a 3-2 aggregate win for Madrid over Wolfsburg in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Those strikes took his continental tally to 16 for the season – double the number scored by his closest competitors, in Luis Suarez, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.

The Ronaldo-led triumph sets up a tantalising semi-final fixture against Manchester City, whilst local rivals Atletico Madrid take on Bayern Munich in the other final-four tie.

On the domestic front, he leads La Liga with 31 goals this term, the most recent of which was scored in Saturday’s 5-1 victory over Getafe.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos’ goal-getting hero is only behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic (32) in Europe’s top five divisions.

Furthermore, in the assist rankings, Ibrahimovic (13) is one of only six players ahead of Ronaldo (11) this season, with Mesut Ozil (18) leading the way.

‘He has to accept the situation’ Chelsea boss explains Nemanja Matic benching

According to London24 news online, Guus Hiddink says the midfield balance between Cesc Fabregas and John Obi Mikel is the main reason why Nemanja Matic has endured such a frustrating season but admits he must accept the current situation.

Matic was a key cog in the Chelsea side that romped to the Premier League title last season but he has played for 90 minutes in just three league games since January and has often been on the bench. Hiddink has made Mikel a key figure since returning for a second spell in interim charge and the Dutchman explained the Nigerian is a key reason why Matic has been an onlooker for long spells.

Guus Hiddink was quoted saying:

“Every now and then he has played, he has made his minutes as well in my period,” he explained.

“When you choose a midfield you can play with Fabregas, Matic and an attacking midfielder player like Loftus-Cheek did against Manchester City. But you can also play with Mikel and I have played him from the start and he is doing well.

“I appreciate Matic as well but they have to accept the situation as it is. Nevertheless, he has made his minutes.”

When asked about Matic’s training ground displays he replied: “I can’t complain about anything.

“But in some positions you have two strong players and then I have to make a choice. When we play Fabregas with his creative play, then we pick a player to compensate (defensively) like Mikel, who can cover but is also good at short passing.”

Guus Hiddink sends message to Eden Hazard and provides injury update

Online news from London24 state that Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink will be intrigued to see Eden Hazard’s reaction to a “dark” season after imploring the Belgian to “play like a kid”.

Hazard won a host of individual awards last season as Chelsea lifted the Premier League title and Capital One Cup, but he and the Blues have had a chastening campaign. Reports have suggested Hazard, who is in line to play for Belgium at this summer’s European Championship, is agitating for a move, with Real Madrid and Paris St Germain interested.

But it is difficult to see Chelsea approving a transfer for a player whose value has plummeted and has four years remaining on his current contract. Hiddink says it is unfair to label Hazard disinterested due to his on-field performances, which have contrasted starkly with last season, and will be interested to watch the 25-year-old’s development.

Interim coach Guus Hiddink was quoted saying:

“The next period will be very interesting for him,” Hiddink said.

“Not now, just this season, but also the Euros and the upcoming season.

“I hope he uses his quality in a way that he doesn’t think too much ahead or back.

“Last year everything was beautiful and this year everything is, for him, dark.

The contrast is huge. “He was the number one and now he’s at the end of a long row of players.
That’s difficult.

What do you do? “We must not dramatise too much. Try to play like a kid. Try to think in the moment.”

“The last days I saw him training very spontaneously,” Hiddink said.

“You have to try to avoid a lot of thinking for yourself and look for causes that might not be there, try to get a little bit clean.”

Antonio Conte will likely be eager to get the best out of Hazard next term. But should Hazard be angling for a move elsewhere, Hiddink believes the Belgian must show his best for Chelsea.

Guus Hiddink Added by saying:

“If he is planning in his career, then he must show it where he is playing now and in the near future,” the Dutchman added.

Hazard, who signed for Chelsea four years ago this summer, has been struggling due to a hip/groin problem. He has been absent for the last four matches, but returned to training this week and should feature against Bournemouth next weekend.

Eden Hazard makes a decision on his Chelsea future

According to 101 great goals online news, The Belgium international has gone from being the best player in the league, to having his own supporters question whether he deserves a spot in their starting XI.

Indeed, many Chelsea fans have called for the club to sell Hazard this summer, believing the playmaker has downed tools in west London.

But according to today’s update in the Times, that far from the case. Instead, Hazard is committed to the Blues cause, and he’s told incoming manager Antonio Conte that he wants to stay at the club next season.

Eden Hazard has told Antonio Conte that he wants to stay at Chelsea next season.

The Belgium forward is believed to accept that he has significantly underperformed during a season in which he has not scored in the Barclays Premier League and is intending to focus on regaining his best form over the summer, rather than pursue a move to Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea are also keen to keep hold of Hazard despite his poor campaign and are willing to give him the chance to show it was simply a blip in an otherwise stellar career.

Gary Cahill is right to slam Chelsea FC teammates

According to fansided online news, Gary Cahill has come out with strong comments against his Chelsea FC colleagues and rightly so after a shambolic performance against Manchester City.

Chelsea FC limped to a pathetic 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at the weekend. They were taken apart by Manuel Pellegrini’s men who were more committed and simply more up for a game of football. Following the match, Gary Cahill has slammed his teammates for a dismal display.

The defender essentially criticised his colleagues for lacking pride, reminding them of the need to put in maximum effort despite the absence of material incentives.

We should have more pride in ourselves to go out and give a performance and at least run around and try to get close to people…you run around and if you make mistakes you make mistakes and you go again. I thought we lacked that in this game. – via ESPN FC

The Blues were woeful as they slumped to the second Premier League defeat of Guus Hiddink’s reign. After a decent opening 30 minutes, in which Chelsea looked likely to score, Sergio Aguero’s deflected strike to open the scoring was the turning point.

After that moment, the Blues rolled over for the visitors who clinically put them away. With Champions League qualification on their minds, City needed a result and they showed that in their spirited display.

Hiddink defends decision to sub Loftus-Cheek after boos from Chelsea fans

According to Goal.com site news, The Dutchman's decision to replace the midfielder with Radamel Falcao was met with criticism in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Swansea City

Guus Hiddink insists he was right to replace Ruben Loftus-Cheek in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on Saturday.

The 20-year-old midfielder was substituted for Radamel Falcao with 14 minutes remaining as Chelsea looked for an equaliser at the Liberty Stadium, but the move was met with jeers from the away fans.

Interim Coach Guus Hiddink was quoted saying:

"They can be upset, but we do many things with 10 minutes to go," said Hiddink. "We have the right to change any player, any minute and of course they may be upset, but I would have changed him even if he had made a goal so that he could be applauded.

"The last game against Villa, he had a cramp on 70 minutes but rather than substitute him, we let him go to have this experience,” said the Dutchman.

“When there are more tight games in the score, when you’re 1-0 down, then we have the right, and I will do so, to change whoever it is.

"It’s important to understand that outside the efficiency and outside the action that he plays, that he must get used to the intensity of the games. Although some players might not be playing well, and I’m not just talking about him, we let them go and have the experience of 90 minutes.”

Worst Goal Drought By Lionel Messi Since 2010

According to Espn online news, Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, and it brought a personal milestone to forget for star striker Lionel Messi.

Messi became just the second Argentina player in history to score 50 international goals after netting against Bolivia during the international break, a strike which left him on 499 career goals for club and country.

But Messi is still waiting to hit the magical 500-goal mark after his return to Barcelona duty, failing to score against Real Madrid, Atletico (twice) and Real Sociedad.

The drought actually goes back to before the break for World Cup qualifying, with Messi's last Barca goal coming against Arsenal on March 16, before he then drew a blank against Villarreal in La Liga.

He has now gone five Barca games without scoring a goal.

It is 452 minutes since he last netted a goal, the longest run since 2010 (when he went 474 minutes without scoring). He will surpass the 2010 mark if he doesn't score in the first 23 minutes on Sunday when Valencia visit the Camp Nou.

And Messi has a habit of going off the boil around April.

That 2010 run began on April 10, and he has also had lengthy droughts in the March-April period in 2014 (420 minutes) and 2015 (362 minutes).

So, as well as in 2010, Messi has gone on extended goalless runs at the end of each of the past three seasons.

I never said Cristiano Ronaldo lacks intelligence - ex-Barcelona star Xavi

According to Espn online news, Former Spain and Barcelona midfield great Xavi has countered claims that he said Cristiano Ronaldo was not intelligent as compared to Lionel Messi.

The Spaniard, currently plying his trade with Al Sadd SC in the Qatar Stars League, was quoted in The New Arab where he spoke about the difference between the Portuguese forward and Messi.

Comparisons between the two stars have always attracted strong interest, and in a week where Ronaldo helped Madrid secure a Champions League semifinal spot, while Messi failed to score again as Barca crashed out of the quarterfinals against Atletico Madrid, Xavi's comments fueled intense debate.

Xavi Hernandez was quoted saying:

"The translation of what I said was erroneous," Xavi told AS.

"I said that there are two types of speed in football. There is the physical side, and in this aspect Messi and Cristiano are at the same level.

"And then there is the speed at which you are able to connect with your teammates, and in this aspect Messi is of the highest level, whereas Cristiano is not.

"Cristiano does not seem like a player who excels at linking up with his teammates. He is not a passer of the ball and that is why Messi is the best in the world for me. He has both kinds of speed, both the physical one and the one that allows him to link up with his teammates.

"I never talked about intelligence and I never said Cristiano lacks intelligence."

Neither player will be focusing on Xavi's comments, with the La Liga title battle going down the wire with Barcelona holding a four-point lead over Madrid, who are in third place with Atletico Madrid in second on 73.

Antonio Conte will fit in at Chelsea, but will Chelsea fit with Antonio Conte?

According to Espn online news, Antonio Conte is a winner. A relentless, irrepressible winner. Chelsea's new manager doesn't have DNA made up of double helixes but instead, a series of W's. Victory is his life's pursuit; he even named his daughter Vittoria. It explains why he was the perfect captain and coach for Juventus. Their motto? "Winning isn't important, it is the only thing that counts."

And yet Conte sees it in even more serious terms than that, almost as if it is a question of mortality. To him, the difference between winning and losing is the same as living and dying. Every defeat is excruciating. It wounds his pride, and so Conte stops at nothing to win. It's why the notion that he would stand by and allow his Siena players agree to do Albinoleffe and Novara a favour, and not go for the win against them in 2011, offends him so very deeply and cuts to his core.

Conte is a workaholic.Horncastle had this to say about the coach:

"There are 24 hours in a day," he says, "I sleep five of them and devote three to my family. That leaves me 16 to work with." It's why he is leaving the Italy job: he simply has too much spare time on his hands. He doesn't like it, comparing the experience to being left in a garage where he only gets to smell tires and engine oil and not the grass of the training ground, something he misses on a daily basis.

Conte's wife Elisabetta used to wake up in the middle of the night while he was at Juventus and find her husband no longer in bed but downstairs, sat in front of the TV in the dark, remote in hand, pausing, rewinding and replaying their games or those of upcoming opponents. When he was banned for four months after his implication in the Last Bet scandal, she bought him an actual bench for the living room.

Conte sees that coaching has always been his calling. An ordinary player by his reckoning, he considers himself an extraordinary coach, a self-proclaimed predestinato. Someone destined for greatness, the coach to be for chelsea was quoted saying:

"Yes, [I did say that]," he told La Repubblica, "and I know what you're thinking: 'This guy's a bit arrogant.' But I soon understood that the talent I lacked on the pitch I possessed on the bench."

To make up for his "shortcomings" as a player, he had to be smarter than the rest. He had to read the game better.

"I played No. 4 for Lecce and the No. 4 used to mark the No. 10. I remember playing against [Diego] Maradona. He was overweight and at the end of his career. He killed me." And yet Conte would go on and win the Scudetto five times with Juventus. He went to four Champions League finals. The limits in his game were overcome through hard work and sacrifice, grit and sheer determination, and he demands the same of his players.

His meticulousness is legendary in Italy. A part of the thesis he submitted at the end of his coaching badges was on "the educational use of video." While most coaches keep these sessions to 15 or 20 minutes so as not to lose the interest of the players, Conte's have been known to go on for more than an hour. Players would find them tedious if it were not for the fact that games have a funny way of unfolding exactly how Conte told them they would unfold, which only serves to reinforce the cult of the manager and make them hang on his every word.

Andrea Pirlo marvelled at Conte's powers of prophecy in his biography. Lazio's Italy international winger Antonio Candreva also admitted he has never felt so prepared than he did under Conte.

Antonio Candreva was quoted saying: "If an opponent stops you," he told Alessandro Alciato, "you have always got another solution to resolve the problem. It's incredible how he manages to foresee all the situations that will come up in 90 minutes."

He is as well-rounded a coach as they come.

Antonio Candreva continued by saying:

"The word 'coach,'" he told Sky Italia, "has to encompass everything. You can't only be good at tactics, just as you can't only be good at motivation, just as you can't only be good from a psychological point of view, just as you can't only be good in how you manage the club and the media. You have got to be good at everything. You have got to try and excel at everything. To do this you have got to study and since I became a coach, for me, it has been continuous study."

It's hard to argue that the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge didn't have a clear idea of what they were after. The other contender for the job was Diego Simeone. Like Conte's success at Juventus, his work at Atletico Madrid is underpinned by passion and unflinching aggression. The impression given is that Chelsea believe the players need or respond best to that kind of manager.

Irrespective of Chelsea's track record with Italian managers, there is a sense that the tactical preparation and standard of work you can expect from them, as the testimonials of Conte's players attest, is second to none and has often made the difference in the Premier League. Roberto Mancini and Carlo Ancelotti have been crowned Champions of England; Claudio Ranieri looks to be next.

It was a shock when Conte left the Old Lady 18 months ago. A number of factors were involved, some of which will be of interest to his new employers. First of all, he did not believe Juventus had the resources to go to the next level in Europe, something which left him looking a little foolish when Max Allegri took them to last season's Champions League final.

The straw that broke the camel's back was their apparent unwillingness to buy a player that would provide the team with the ability to alternate between a 4-3-3 and a 3-5-2 to greater effect than in his first season at the club. That player was Juan Cuadrado, which is indicative of how important width is to Conte; don't be too surprised if he requests that the Colombian be recalled. A lot will depend on the player, of course, and whether he wants to return to the Bridge, but I digress.

This anecdote in particular is revealing for a couple of reasons. First, it highlights the tactical flexibility Conte will seek to bring to Chelsea. Second, it underlines that if you don't satisfy his demands, there will be tension. He will walk away. That was the case at Bari when they wouldn't buy the fourth attacking player that would allow him to play 4-2-4 in Serie A, and later at Atalanta too when they refused to sell Cristiano Doni after he challenged Conte's authority.

The warning signs are there for Chelsea but they also are for the rest of the Premier League because make no mistake about it: Conte won't rest until the Blue flag is flying high again.

Chelsea striker could make stunning £70m summer move to China

According to soccerlens online news, Chelsea striker Diego Costa is ready to jump on the latest bandwagon and join former teammate Ramires in China. According to this report in the Telegraph yesterday night, the Spaniard is almost set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer. It had looked earlier like a return to Atletico Madrid was on the cards, but the story has taken a stunning turn to Asia.

The 27 year-old joined Chelsea last summer and has an impressive scoring record with the Blues, netting 31 times in the Premier League in 50 appearances. He was a talisman in their title win last season, and also scored the crucial second goal in the final of the League Cup en route to victory. His time in England though, has been marred with several controversies as well, with the media and the FA quick to condemn him for his off-the-ball antics. Incidentally, he is currently serving a three-game ban for an incident against Everton in Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter-final loss and will miss the trip to Swansea City on Saturday.

The Blues have announced Antonio Conte as their manager for next season, and the Italian is expected to given a sizeable amount of money in the transfer window to rebuild the squad. They have had a turbulent season following their success last year, and are set to miss out on Champions League football next season. A seismic shift is on the cards.

Costa’s future under the new boss is still unclear. He earns £185,000 per week currently, but the report says that this amount could double were he to take the decision to move to China. Several big names have made a move to the Super League in the world’s most populous country recently, clearly attracted by the handsome wages offered there due to recent investment in football by President Xi Jinping. Along with Ramires, who moved from Chelsea, other Brazilians like Alex Texeira, Paulinho and Jo are also plying their trade in China.

A new centre forward is said to be on the agenda for the club, with their own former man Romelu Lukaku high on the list. Lukaku moved from Chelsea to Everton last summer for £28 million and has shone, attracting the Blues interest yet again. If the club were to sell Costa for £70 million, it would leave them in a great position to bring the big Belgian back from Merseyside.

Chelsea's Matt Miazga learning 'good habits' from captain John Terry

According to Espn online news, Matt Miazga has told ESPN FC that John Terry has become a mentor since he arrived at Chelsea, adding he is looking forward to working with Antonio Conte next season.

Saturday saw January signing Miazga make his Chelsea debut in a comfortable 4-0 win over Aston Villa alongside Branislav Ivanovic in the heart of defence, with Terry absent due to an Achilles problem and Gary Cahill was sidelined with an injury picked up on England duty.

Last season, Terry played every minute of the Premier League campaign as Chelsea surged to their first title win in five years, but the 35-year-old's Stamford Bridge future is now uncertain after being informed in January that the club had declined to offer him an extension to his current contract, which expires this summer.

U.S. international Miazga is determined to learn from Terry as he attempts to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, and says the Chelsea captain is always happy to help.

Asked what working with Chelsea's experienced defenders has taught him, Miazga was quoted saying to ESPN FC that:

"The most important thing I've learned is the professionalism they have on and off the pitch. How they conduct themselves, how they make sure their bodies are always ready.

"I've seen John always training in the gym, keeping his body fit. The way he takes care of his body as an older player -- you've just got to develop those habits.

"Also on the pitch, the positioning they have. John's played over 700 games and you can see the little things he does, positioning his body to deal with crosses and reading plays. If I ever have questions I ask and he's always willing to answer, so it's been good.

"He's regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world, so if you have this guy as a teammate you've got to try and learn from him. Be your own player but pick up things that he does. Our other centre-backs as well -- Gary, Branislav, Kurt [Zouma] -- I try to pick up on little things that they do well."

Terry's future at Stamford Bridge is now in the hands of Conte. Chelsea confirmed on Monday that the 46-year-old will take over from interim boss Guus Hiddink as first team head coach on a three-year contract at the conclusion of Italy's Euro 2016 campaign.

Conte forged his managerial reputation by winning three straight Serie A titles in dominant fashion with Juventus prior to taking the Italy post, and Miazga is looking forward to working with a coach who helped defenders Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli flourish during his time in Turin.

"I'm excited to work with Antonio and excited by the news of a great appointment of a coach like him," Miazga added. "He has to finish with the Italian national team and we have to finish our season here, but I'm excited for the future."

The 20-year-old added that he is settling in well at Stamford Bridge since joining from New York Red Bulls in January and he has struck up a good friendship with midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

"Everyone's been very welcoming. I talk to everyone and all the guys are great, but I've become pretty close with Ruben Loftus-Cheek on and off the pitch. We tend to hit long balls after training, work on our weaker foot and he's next to me in the changing room, so we talk a lot and we've become good friends."

Alexandre Pato will not stay at Chelsea, but agent wants to take him to Tottenham or West Ham

According to sambafoot online news, Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato will not be stating at Chelsea beyond the summer, but should continue in English football.

According to the information from Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, agent Kia Joorabchian, who's influential in the Premier League, is already trying to take the striker to Tottenham or West Ham United. Pato still has a great chance to continue in English football next season, although he's outside the plans of the Blues. Kia Joorabchian, a former partner of Corinthians, is using his strong influence behind the scenes of the Premier League to negotiate the attacker, and have already contacted

Tottenham and West Ham. Pato, whose contract with Corinthians runs out at the end of this year, can sign a pre-contract with any team from July and then leave for free in January 2017. Kia is working, so that Pato's future team can disburse a small financial compensation to Corinthians, or even allow the Brazilian side to keep 5% or 10% of his economic rights. Remember that Corinthians, who bought him from Milan for a club-record transfer fee, owns 60% rights of the player, while the remaining 40% is held by Pato himself.

Forget Costa – Three Drogba Like Strikers That Chelsea Should Target In The Summer

1.  Edinson Cavani:

The Uruguayan is working on a move away from the French capital and he is being linked to Chelsea since many years. This seems the perfect opportunity for him to come to Chelsea and prove himself in the Premier League. It’s speculated that Conte wants to bring him and Cavani himself has stated that he is not happy playing on the wings to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Cavani is tailor-made for the blues and for the right amount, he can be a Chelsea player in the summer.

2. Cristian Benteke:

Benteke has been a huge disappointment this season and it seems that the big Belgian doesn’t seem to fit in Klopp’s plans at Liverpool. Though he has not performed well this season, there is no doubt that on his day he can cause havoc to any team in the Premier League. A move away from Merseyside will provide a great chance for Benteke to redeem himself and he has much sought after Premier League experience which can be useful for Conte’s Chelsea.

3. Vincent Janssen:

Janssen is a young Dutch striker who plays for AZ Alkmaar and is likened to the next Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He has scored a staggering 23 goals this season and might look a big gamble to invest money in him, but many people questioned the signing of Didier Drogba but look how it turned out. The 21 year old scored his first international goal last week against England and signing him might sound a huge risk but it can definitely pay off.

Chelsea: Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal 'not interested' in Stamford Bridge move

According to ibtimes online sources, Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal appears to have ended speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea and a reunion with Antonio Conte. The Italian was named the next Chelsea manager on Monday 4 April and will officially assume duties at Stamford Bridge following Italy's Euro 2016 campaign.

After Chelsea's dismal 2015-16 campaign, the former Juventus manager is expected to be given the green light to make key additions to the Blues' squad during the summer transfer window. Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci and Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic have been heavily-linked with moves to west London, but Vidal is also speculated to be one of Conte's priority targets.

The Chile international was integral to Juventus' success under Conte and the Daily Mail claim the player has privately indicated to Bayern he would like to link up with his former manager once again. But speaking after Bayern's Champions League quarter-final first leg win over Benfica on Tuesday 5 April, Vidal insisted he was not looking to leave the German giants.

When asked about a possible move to Chelsea, Vidal told Chilean radio station BioBio: "I am very happy here. I have to think about my family and I still have time on my contract." Vidal left Juventus last summer after four successful years at the club. Under Conte, the powerful midfielder won three Serie A titles and was part of the team that finished runners up in the 2014-15 Champions League.

Paul Pogba is another player to have been heavily linked with a reunion with Conte at Stamford Bridge. According to former Juventus director Alessio Secco, Conte's healthy relationship with his former players, combined with Chelsea's deep pockets, should boost the club's chances of signing players like the France international this summer.

"Obviously he [Conte] knows the players very well," Secco told TalkSport. "Some players did very, very well during the last few years. Chelsea will have a job to do to sign new players and when you have a good knowledge of them it is normal that you go back, not just to Juventus but to other Italian clubs to try what you think is better for your club.

"Some players, like Pogba, have an incredible value in terms of money and very, very few clubs can afford him. Chelsea are definitely one of them. We are talking about one of the best midfielders so I wouldn't be surprised if [Conte] went for him."

Chelsea confident of sealing Miralem Pjanic transfer

According to metro uk online news, Chelsea are growing increasingly confident of landing Miralem Pjanic in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Pjanic, the current leading assist maker in Serie A, has made 179 appearances for Roma since making his debut in 2011 but is now being heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Evening Standard say the Blues are prepared to offer Pjanic a three-year contract of more than £65,000-a-week which they believe the 26-year-old will sign.

It’s understood the Bosnia and Herzegovina international flew into London for talks after Antonio Conte was announced as Chelsea’s next manager on Monday.

Conte is also believed to be eyeing deals for Serie A stars Leonardo Bonucci, Radja Nainggolan and Kostas Manolas.

Real Madrid international accused of being an ‘actor’ by Wolfsburg coach after shameful simulation

According to caught offside online article, Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has been slammed as an ‘actor’ by Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking.

Speaking to the German media [as reported by Sport], the Wolfsburg manager has criticised the Brazil international following some perceived play acting in Wednesday evening’s Champions League tie between the two sides.

Hecking Wolfsburg manager was quoted saying:

“Marcelo is an actor,” Hecking began. “I have told him to stop his acting.

“It doesn’t belong here and is unsportsmanlike.”

The coach is referring, specifically, to an incident that came during the Wolves’ 2-0 victory over Real in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final earlier this week.

In the 70th minute of the match, the wideman appeared to kick out at Maximilian Arnold—who found the net for the Bundesliga outfit—before then proceeding to headbutt the midfielder in the chest.

While one might expect Arnold to hit the ground, it was Marcelo who collapsed as though he had been the victim of a brutal assault, with the 21-year-old looking on bemused as he received a yellow card from referee Gianluca Rocchi for his supposed role in the incident.

News from Independent website state that, Real Madrid will offer Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester United for €60m (£48.5m) this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish publication ES have claimed that Real have decided to cash in on the 31-year-old at the end of the season because his contract expires in 2018 and he will only lose value.

Ronaldo played for United between 2003 and 2009 before his then-world record £80m move to Real. The Portuguese scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for the Old Trafford side, and won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup and one Champions League in a trophy-laden spell with the club.

He left United to join Real for a then-world record £80m in 2009.

Ronaldo has enjoyed another prolific campaign this season, scoring 42 goals in 40 appearances for Real in all competitions.

Despite defeating Barcelona 2-1 on Saturday, it has not been the best of campaigns for Real. They are seven points behind leaders Barca and lost 2-0 to Wolfsburg last night in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg.

Zinedine Zidane slams defence as Real crash at Wolfsburg

According to nation football news online, Zinedine Zidane admitted Real Madrid suffered an El Clasico hangover as they crashed to a 2-0 Champions League quarter-final, first-leg, defeat at Wolfsburg on Wednesday.

Just five days after ending Barcelona's 39-game unbeaten run with a 2-1 away win, Real were humbled as Wolfsburg ignored their struggling mid-table form in Germany's top flight.

Real never recovered as first-half goals from Swiss defender Ricardo Rodriguez and Maximilian Arnold put the hosts 2-0 up at the Volkswagen Arena with 25 minutes gone.

Wolfsburg now have the upper hand ahead of Tuesday's return leg at the Bernabeu.

Coach of Real Madrid Zinedine Zidane was quoted saying:

"I'm not happy, above all with the first-half. This can happen if you don't play with intensity from the start," said coach Zidane, who made just one change from the team which beat Barca.

"We wanted to play here just like we did on Saturday, it was an intensive game for us (in Barcelona) and we were flat in the first-half here.

"Now we have a chance in the return leg and it's good we've got a game in three days (at home to Eibar) to get over this defeat.

"We had our problems, not just in the intensity, but also in our movement.
"We didn't expect the 2-0 defeat and we need to analyse where we went wrong and make corrections."

Zidane even said he was proud of his players and took full responsibility for the result.

"I have to find the reasons for the defeat and the solutions," he added.

Bale Seeking Wolfsburg Victory

According to online Madrid news, Real Madrid are on show in the Champions League quarter final first leg tonight at the VfL Wolfsburg Arena and Welsh international Gareth Bale is targeting a win.

Speaking to realmadrid.com in his own pre game press interview, Bale spoke about the game and whilst he knew it would be a tough match, he was confident that Los Blancos could take the advantage into the second leg of the affair at Santiago Bernabeu.

Having arrived at the club back in 2013, with it being a wider UEFA media interview, he discussed the last two and a half years and his experiences with us so far.

Gareth Bale was quoted saying;

'An incredible experience. It's a big club with big expectations, so I feel that I did good coming here. During the time here, I`ve enjoyed every minute and I think I've become a better player. When I came to Real Madrid I knew the history of the club, I'd seen it as a child. So to have been able to contribute to it is incredible. And we want to contribute more, we want to win more European titles and continue to add more silverware to the trophy cabinet.'

Speaking about Wolfsburg more specifically as tonight's opponents, he went on to say.

'We knew that any team that made it to the quarter-finals would be difficult. We're looking forward to playing. We're going to go out to win both games and hopefully we can.'

With his first season seeing la Decima, that figured in the questioning.

'The fact we won, the celebration - I think about the relief. I think we'd not won the Champions League for 12 years. I remember when I signed for Real Madrid the president said to me that he'd brought me to win la Décima. It was nice that we won it in my first season and hopefully we'll win more.'

That of course brings its own pressures.

'I try not to look at it like that. People expect a lot from you because of the price paid and all that, but I try to concentrate on my football every day and on what I do in training and in the games. Of course there are ups and downs, but the important thing is how you react to them. I think that I've improved in every aspect of my game. Lots of things have been good for me. The Premier League is more about attacking from one end to the other and La Liga is more possession based. I can see that I've improved the possession side of my game and also my finishing.'

With Bale having had an injury hit season this year, and his absence contributing to what has been a difficult La Liga campaign, he was just looking forward now with Champions League success a real possibility.

'It's been a bit of an annoying season, with little injuries interrupting my form, especially when I was playing well. Regarding the objectives, we're a bit behind in the league, but in the Champions League we know that we are in a good position and we're going to fight as much as we can in each game. Hopefully that will take us to where we want to be.'

'Don't sell Cristiano Ronaldo' club legend Paco Gento tells Real Madrid

According to Euro sports news, Real Madrid legend Paco Gento has responded to rumours about Cristiano Ronaldo's future, urging Real not to sell the Portugal international.

According to ongoing speculation, Ronaldo – who helped secure Real’s Clasicowin on Saturday - could be a target for a number of clubs during this summer’s transfer window, including former club, Manchester United.

Paco Gento was quoted saying:

"How are you going to sell a player who scores so many goals for you every day?

"No, man, no. Plus, Madrid have never been a selling club, Madrid above all have bought players.

" Madrid should not sell, they should buy. Cristiano knows the people here, and the club love him."

Speaking in defence of the star’s sometimes petulant behaviour towards team-mates, Gento said that Ronaldo was a perfectionist and sometimes found himself frustrated.

“Di Stefano was like that too,” he said, referencing the late Argentina and Real Madrid star.

“Cristiano’s gestures are explained as he always wants to be the best, and that is very important.”

Real Madrid take on Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

TERRY, HAZARD, COSTA? CONTE HAS PLENTY TO DO AT STAMFORD BRIDGE

According to football fan zone news online, With Antonio Conte announcing that he will take over from interim manager Guus Hiddink at Chelsea this summer, work will surely be under way on the massive rebuild that is required at Stamford Bridge.

Of course Conte still has Euro 2016 to think about but it would be unlikely that the Italian isn’t thinking about Chelsea at all given the size of the job that he faces when stepping into the hot seat.

Premier League winners at a canter last season, Chelsea looked out of sorts and this eventually lead to the sacking of Chelsea legend Jose Mourinho. Whilst Guus Hiddink has somewhat steadied the ship, there is still an air of vulnerability about them.

Chelsea will have seen Manchester United struggle with managerial changes and the departures of senior players and will want to avoid the problems of their up north counterparts.

Yesterday Football Fanzone’s Jason Cundy said Conte’s first act should be to hand club captain John Terry a new deal, but today he goes in depth, looking at the problems the incoming manager will face as well as offering his thoughts on the appointment of the former Juventus manager:

Firstly every manager is a risk, there are no guarantees in football as seen with Jose Mourinho who went from the title to unemployed in a matter of months.

Conte has a good record but has a bit to learn and the Premier League will be a tough proving ground for the Italy manager.

Of course one of the main things fans will be interested in with Conte is transfers, both in and out of the club.

Schurrle: Wolfsburg have a chance against Real Madrid

According to FourFourTwo online news, Andre Schurrle hopes Wolfsburg can spring a surprise in their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Wolfsburg attacker Andre Schurrle is optimistic about his side's chances in their Champions League quarter-final tie with Real Madrid.

The Bundesliga outfit will start Wednesday's first leg as the underdogs against a Madrid team that came from behind to beat Barcelona with 10 men last weekend.

But Schurrle believes Wolfsburg have every chance of getting a positive result at the Volkswagen Arena.

Andre Schurrle was quoted saying:

"We are not without a chance. We should not be written off," the Germany international told Sport Bild.

"We should not be overwhelmed by the occasion. Maybe Madrid's style of play could even suit us.

"We will not enjoy a whole lot of possession. It is not up to us to dominate play. We can play on the counter-attack. But we have to improve on the break."

Wolfsburg have impressed in the Champions League, but are eighth in the Bundesliga after three league games without a win.

"We have been struggling to reach a consistently high level in the Bundesliga," Schurrle added.

"We need to improve and reach a high level consistently. We have a lot of potential, but we are not always able to get the best out of ourselves."

Zinedine Zidane in sticky situation after Real Madrid manager hides chewing gum under Barcelona press room table

According to mail online news, Barcelona came unstuck at the weekend when Real Madrid secured a 2-1 El Clasico victory ‒ but it was the visitors' manager Zinedine Zidane who stole the post-match spotlight in bizarre fashion.

A late winner from Real superstar Cristiano Ronaldo after Karim Benzema had cancelled out Gerard Pique's opener saw the visitors battle to a memorable comeback victory at the Nou Camp.

But before the French coach could join in on the celebrations, Zidane attended the routine post-match press conference to discuss his team's victory.

However, the Frenchman ‒ who enjoyed a trophy-laden career as a player ‒ forgot to remove his chewing gum prior to taking his seat.

Rather than finding a tissue or looking for a bin, the 43-year-old opted to stick it under his rival's press table before taking questions on Saturday night.

Why Conte must let Solanke and Brown flourish and solve Hazard enigma

According to London 24 news, Antonio Conte was on Monday named Chelsea manager on a three-year contract and Press Association Sport has taken a look at the Italian’s first tasks at Stamford Bridge:

NO QUICK FIX

Chelsea’s calamitous season has led for calls for wholesale changes, but it is clear there can be no quick solution to the problems. Patience - something rarely seen under Roman Abramovich’s ownership - is required now. Jose Mourinho wanted to build a dynasty, but the “palpable discord” between manager and players, to use technical director Michael Emenalo’s words, was a fracture in relations which could not be repaired. Conte must be given time to build a team.

TRANSFER TROUBLE

Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne, David Luiz, Ryan Bertrand and Petr Cech are some of the players sold who would improve the current Chelsea starting XI and cases can be made for others. The signings of Radamel Falcao, Papy Djilobodji, Alexandre Pato, Baba Rahman and others have done little to redress the balance. The challenge is Chelsea may have to overhaul the team twice in the next two summers as, without Champions League football next term, it may be difficult to attract the desired players - and keep their existing talent.

LEADERSHIP - THE JOHN TERRY CONUNDRUM

John Terry announced in January he would be leaving Chelsea in the summer, although the club maintain there is the possibility of a contract extension being offered. The 35-year-old captain has made 700 appearances for the Blues and his departure would undoubtedly create a hole. But he has to go some time. Whether it is now or in the near future, Conte must fill the void in defence and in leadership.

ENIGMA EDEN

Eden Hazard was Chelsea’s leading performer in the 2014/15 Capital One Cup and Premier League successes, but his performance levels have dropped alarmingly this term. A long-standing hip problem provides part of the explanation, but, even prior to that flaring up, the Belgium playmaker did not show signs of improving on his successful campaign. He is under contract until 2020 and will not be sold - his transfer value must be half what it was last summer - so Conte must find a way of rejuvenating Hazard.

YOUTH POLICY

Terry was the most recent, home-grown graduate to make a sustained first-team impact from the academy, 18 years ago. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been in the first-team squad this season, but has had limited opportunities. Dominic Solanke, Lewis Baker and Izzy Brown are among those out on loan who should be given the chance to realise their undoubted potential. Chelsea’s developmental model could be reconfigured to place less emphasis on loans and enhance first-team chances.

Chelsea squad get Pato fever after dream debut

According to goal news, The former Milan forward scored on his Blues bow against Aston Villa and has been enjoying some bizarre fancy dress at the club's Cobham training ground.
Chelsea fans finally got their first glimpse of Alexandre Pato at Aston Villa, and the Brazilian certainly made his mark on the Blues.

The former Milan man netted from the penalty spot before playing his part in Pedro's second-half double, and it seems 'Pato fever' is now taking over the club's Cobham training ground.

The forward posted a picture of two unknown members of the Chelsea squad - presumably one of whom was Pato himself - wearing dusk masks alongside the caption "#crazypeople".

This might seem strange to some, but the literal translation of Pato in Spanish is 'duck', hence the get-ups.

It seems Chelsea players just cannot resist a mask after a number - including Diego Costa and Fernando Torres - have been forced to wear Zorro-style face protectors in recent years.

Chelsea Transfer News: West Ham winger update, Conte's £90m Everton raid, shock £71m exit

According to sky sports news, West Ham are not planning to sign Chelsea loanee Victor Moses on a permanent basis in the summer.

The winger enjoyed an impressive start to life at Upton Park, but has not started a game in the Premier League since returning from a hamstring injury in mid-January.

The Hammers are also prepared to let Barcelona midfielder Alex Song and Al Ain striker Emmanuel Emenike return to their respective clubs at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has set his sights on Everton pair Romelu Lukaku and John Stones ahead of his rebuilding job this summer.

The 46-year-old, who the Blues announced as their new manager yesterday and will take charge after leading Italy at Euro 2016, is reportedly keen to strengthen his side's attack and replace skipper John Terry.

According to website Football Insider, Chelsea are prepared to spend £50 million to re-sign striker Lukaku and another £40m to land centre-back Stones.

And finally, The Times claim Chelsea could lose striker Diego Costa in the summer to a club from the Chinese Super League.

One of the mega-rich Chinese clubs will reportedly make a £71m bid for the Spain international should he decide to leave at the end of the season.

But Express Sport understands Conte has planned showdown talks before the end of the season with Costa in a bid to convince him to stay.
